Flowers are complex.  What attracts me, apart from their sheer beauty, is the hidden layers.  The origins of this series  started when I watched  the thriller “The Town” , a story of Boston crime lord Fergie whose criminal activities gave me the shivers. While Fergie can easily commit a crime, he is also a talented florist creating exuberant bouquets, which contrasts starkly with his violent alter ego.

Whether it is lore, mythology or human fantasy, fact is each soul has black thorns. The alter ego.

I created a darker, double exposure series to emphasize the not so innocent power of flowers.

The Ice Flowers series was created during the Covid 19 lockdown. I used ice as a metaphor for our contained lives.
